What to Consider When Buying a Sex Machine.

Purchasing a Sex Machine from outside the UK.

When buying from overseas, the main thing you need to consider - hidden charges. If buying from any EU country, you will be liable to pay VAT unless your seller is VAT registered. Good news is that VAT is waived if your purchase is under 18 GBP, but then a sex machine rarely under �50, so VAT, unfortunately, is unavoidable. US prices are usually quite reasonable when converting into British Pounds, then again, add shipping, VAT and handling charges and, again, the saving is quickly absorbed.

Shipping. If ordered by first class, the delivery cost from US or Canada may vary from 30 to 80 GBP depending whether you order an express delivery, order shipping tracking, etc. The manufacturers usually have a section on their website about international delivery charges. Delivery times will depend upon a delivery option you have chosen: if an express delivery - it will take not more then a week. Standard delivery times from US or Canada might take up to 4 weeks. It is advisable to clarify it with your seller.

Import Duty and VAT Though, a manufacturer quotes you a shipping cost, you'll be responsible for VAT and Import duty tax when the product arrives.

Import Duty Tax on the total cost, including shipping, - 3.7% (paid on delivery)
VAT on the total cost, including shipping and a duty tax, - 17.5% (paid on delivery)
Handling/admin charges (by the delivery service, eg. Royal Mail, Parcelforce, DHL, etc) - up to 12 GBP

This sum will have to be paid to the delivery man, i.e. postman, parcelforce, DHL, etc. Usually, they'll phone you in advance to advise you about extra charges.

UK Power Supply. Electric hardware originated from US has 110V power supply, which is not suitable for UK mains. So, make sure you'll purchase UK power adapter for 220V, otherwise you might short-circuit your house. Typical UK power adapter is 220V (in)/12-15v(out).

Returns. If purchased from US/Canada, some manufacturers require to give you an authorization code, then you will have to send your product back to them stating the code. Then you wait until the manufacturer will contact you and even better refund your p&p expenses, and eventually send the replacement machine back to you or refund the cost of the machine, if applicable. But, dont despair, you might not need to do this. In spite of what the manufacturer might say, the basics of the machine are simple. The heart of the machine is its motor. Then there is a power supply unit, speed control unit that feeds from the motor, and the rest is non-electrical, i.e brackets, shaft, base, cover. The motor of the sex machine is very similar to a screen wiper motor and is extremely durable and long-lasting, and its highly unlikely that it'll break during the shipment. The power supply unit is easily replaceble with another power adapter ( e.g. Maplin's laptop adapter) if goes wrong. All in all, the machines are durable hardware and will serve you a long long long time.
